If you’re still looking for reasons to get to Cork for a day this month, you could double up by heading to the People’s Republic next weekend as the Cork indoor Christmas Craft & Food Fair takes place on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th December from 10am to 7pm. This runs in a similar timeframe to the Cork Christmas Market on Grand Parade (10am to 8pm both days). The venue for the indoor fair will be the Former Fas Building, Sullivan’s Quay, Cork City. I spent a week in there earlier in the summer with Devious Theatre performing Smitten as part of Solstice on the third floor (a wing of the Cork Midsummer Festival). If you’re on Grand Parade for the Christmas Market, you can’t miss it, it’s right at the end of the Parade, across the bridge and a little to the left (huge grey building).
The indoor event will be a traditional Christmas Fair in the heart of the city with local craft stalls, from basket makers, jewellery, wood crafts, paintings to wonderful Christmas cakes & puddings, handmade fudge, hampers & fresh wreaths. There will be free kid’s craft workshops & face painting, storytelling, music, community & charity stalls, crepes, hot chocolate & BBQ’s. The idea is to compliment the other Christmas festivities taking place in Cork City during December & add variety to the consumers overall Christmas experience.
This Christmas Fair will give customers the opportunity to do all their Christmas shopping under one roof, with a vast array of unique, locally crafted gifts and artisan food to choose from while having a great family day out.
Admission is E2.50 Kids go free all activities & workshops are free.
The event is being organised by The Cork Local Food Producers & Craft Group whose aim is promote and showcase the vast amount of small local producers and talented craftspeople we have in our midst.
