Fancy combining the equestrian life with food this weekend? How about a feast of flavour from some of Ireland’s top food producers from this Thursday through the bank holiday weekend as the Tattersalls International Horse Trials and Country Fair will not only host top International riders and Olympic hopefuls but will also be serving up delicious dishes from some great names in Irish food.
Leading the charge and taking centre stage in the Moscow Flyer Pavilion, (the onsite restaurant and bar overlooking the main arena), will be renowned chef, Neil Shirt. Having worked in top restaurants including Harrods, Chapter One and Luttrellstwon Castle, Neil will be serving up a selection of culinary delights. On the menu will be some delectable delights including Clogherhead naturally smoked Irish haddock & salmon fishcakes; Keralan style curry with free range Irish chicken & poppadums and Annagasson crab linguini with tomato, fresh parsley & garlic. Or for those who prefer a tipple why not sit back and sip champagne or Pimms and watch the action in the arena or the thrills of the Epsom Derby which will be shown on screens in the marquee.
Good Food Ireland will also be on hand to whet your appetite with tasty treats including delicious handmade sausages from the kitchen of Jane Russell and Peter Ward’s Hereford burgers with tasty relish from his Country Choice range of products. Foodies can also sample some top produce from a number of truly local artisan producers including Burkes Ice Cream, produced in Ratoath, or can grab a sweet or savory snack from the many food stalls and catering vans on offer.
And if you fancy bringing along your own homemade goodies, the Tattersalls International Horse Trials and Country Fair is the perfect place to enjoy a wonderful summer picnic. Pick a spot by the water jump on the cross country course and get to see the action up close and personal. Open up the boot, pop a cork and enjoy eating al fresco with family and friends whilst viewing all the competition action.
Tickets range from €5 for one day adult admission to €50 for a picnic pass (includes entry for 2 adults and 2 children).
So be sure to make your way to Ratoath, Co. Meath to enjoy four days of world class eventing, some great food and a great time for the entire family.
