Weekend Chef #3

IT’S NOT EVERY weekend that I haul myself out of bed before 9am to go running in the cold, but that’s how this morning started which means at this stage I’m raring to go in the kitchen. I’m thinking some kind of piri-piri chicken dish myself but if you’re stuck for ideas on what to cook in the kitchen this weekend, here’s ten recipes garnered from food bloggers and papers this past week including some easy mains, sides and desserts.

Happy cooking!

Foodie Roundup #42

Foodie Roundup #42

It’s Sunday 18th March, which means it’s Mother’s Day / stay in bed because you’ve a wicked hangover day / Foodie Roundup day. Only one of the three applies to me directly (though I will be speaking to my mother later, as should everyone) so here’s ten blog posts from ten Irish food bloggers that you may have missed this past week, March 11th to 17th. Here’s also to shaking off the craft beers, cider and cheese from last night with a hearty breakfast to start Sunday off.

If you’ve got a new food blog and you would like to be included in the roundup (or at least make it to the reader so I know what you’re writing about), drop me a line by emailing ken@anygivenfood.com or find me on Twitter here.

Happy Sunday!

It’s somewhere around the 7am mark and while at home I may be contemplating a run to the shop for lunch, here I’m looking through guides wondering where I can go for breakfast as french toast, bacon and maple syrup run high on the agenda. Having flown in on Sunday and trying to last the pace into the wee hours of the morning, yesterday was the first proper day on the ground which gave me a chance to see where my brother has been living, eating, drinking, and in turn, hitting those spots for food.

Sneaky Dee's

Sneaky Dee's - turns out that some of Scott Pilgrim was filmed here as well. Awesome food. Going back for their award-winning wings later in the week.

Lunch was late thanks to a calamity of errors in figuring out where the busses go to and from and from what side of the road but by mid afternoon we were all dining in Sneaky Dee’s.

3 egg omelette

Beef enchilads (my lunch) with some great beef - beef now, not your minced stuff - with refried beans, rice and salad.

French toast, bacon and maple syrup. Definitely on my list for some point during the week.

This was followed by a few nice pints in the Cloak & Dagger, a stroll through Kensington, China Town, the Eaton Centre, a trip to the World’s Biggest Bookstore (it’s huge), back to Queen for some nachos and ultimately the subway and bus back to base for the week.
