Knorr Blue Dragon Competition” target=”_blank”>Launched this time last month, don’t forget that there’s still an opportunity to enter the Knorr Blue Dragon’s taste trip to Thailand competition.
If you’re working the the catering profession or a student chef, then seven nights in Thailand could be yours come May this year if you come up with the winning original recipe using either Knorr Blue Dragon’s new pastes or Create More Concentrated Sauces. Check the original blog post here or check the competition website here.
You can also download an application form here.
The deadline for entries is April 13th 2012.
A few weeks back I was asked to become part of the judging panel for Unilever’s new Knorr Blue Dragon Competition which kicks off today. Needless to say, I said yes, and last Friday made the trip to Dublin to link up with Unilever Food Solutions’ Business Development Chef Mark McCarthy and China Sichaun (Sandyford, Dublin) owner Kevin Hui to get some photos in as Dublin City Council got ready to kick off their Chinese New Year celebrations.
Well, the competition kicks off today. Using one of the new Knorr Blue Dragon pastes or sauces, you need to create a recipe and submit it online or by post to be in with a chance of winning – simple.
If you visit KnorrBlueDragon.ie you can register for a free Knorr Blue Dragon past sample and using that sample you need to prepare an original recipe along with a photo and short methodology and upload the details back to the website by Friday, 13th April. The pastes come in varying flavours and styles from Laksa Curry to Thai Green Curry to Char Siu. You can use the pastes or one of the new Knorr Blue Dragon Create More concentrated sauces to come up with a recipe and either upload it to the site as mentioned above, or grab an application form here and post your entry in.
It wouldn’t be much of a competition without a grand prize. Once all the entries have been collected by April 13th, they will be whittled down by Mark, Kevin and myself to get five finalists. Those five finalists will be invited to Unilever’s Development Centre in Greenogue, Dublin in the second week of may for a cook off where the winner will bag a seven night trip for two to Phuket, Thailand. There you’ll have the opportunity to visit local food markets and also take part in two professional master classes at the Blue Elephant Cookery School in Phuket.
If your recipe doesn’t make it to the finals, it may also appear in the chef’s gallery on KnorrBlueDragon.ie or bag a page for itself in the new Knorr Blue Dragon recipe book coming out later in 2012 where a selection of the top recipes submitted will go to print in the new cook book.
